Introducing “Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai” New facility in Tokyo

Tourism

Have you heard about the commercial facility “Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai” opening in Toyosu, Tokyo in February 2024?

I, who have lived in Tokyo for more than 20 years, did not know about it until the other day.

Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai is a commercial facility adjacent to Toyosu Market, where you can enjoy fresh food products.

Sometimes, the food is so fresh that some fresh fish swim directly from Tokyo Bay to Senkyaku Banrai.

Moreover, in addition to enjoying fresh ingredients, visitors can even experience the atmosphere of Edo (old Tokyo).

In this article, we will introduce Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai.

What is oyosu Senkyaku Banrai ?

The official page for the “Toyosu Senkyaku Manrai” project introduces it as follows

Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai will inherit and develop the bustling atmosphere that is a valuable asset unique to Tsukiji, and in cooperation with the main facilities of the Toyosu market, will create a lively and bustling atmosphere unique to Toyosu. (*Quotes from the official page)

The market is to inherit the bustle of a place that has supported people’s lives and flourished as a commercial center since the Edo period.

The actual market and commercial facilities will work in tandem to further develop and create vitality. This facility was opened with this in mind.

Facility Overview

As you can see from the image, the facility is divided into the Toyosu Outside Edo Market and the Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club, a hot spring facility.

Toyosu Outside Edomae Market

This is a commercial facility that recreates an Edo townscape, with many stores that focus on fresh, live fish and ingredients that have swum from the Toyosu Market to the facility.

There are several areas within this area.

Toyosu Mekiki Odori: An area lined with restaurants and popular stores where you can enjoy Edo-mae food.

Mekiiki Yokocho: An area where visitors can enjoy eating and drinking fresh foods and delicacies selected by wholesale dealers.

Senkyaku Banrai Footbath Garden (free): A free footbath facility with a panoramic view of Toyosu

Ukiyo-e sales corner: An area where reprinted ukiyo-e, traditional Japanese woodblock prints, are sold.

Tokyo Manyo Club (hot spring facility)

This relaxing facility transports hot springs from Hakone and Yugawara, hot spring spots in the suburbs of Tokyo, to create a hot spring village in Tokyo.

In addition to the open-air baths, large baths, and the footbath introduced earlier, there is also a footbath facility available to Manyo Club visitors.

Incidentally, this footbath offers a 360° view of the Toyosu waterfront.

If you want to taste fresh seafood, you must have a kaisendon.

At Edotsujiya, you can have it all.

Edotsujiya has also caused a stir on SNS with its aggressive pricing!

There is a Kaisen Donburi that costs as much as 7,000 yen per meal.

It was even called “in-bound donburi” (bowl of rice topped with seafood) because of its price setting for inbound customers.

Even so, it is one of the most popular restaurants with a great demand from both overseas customers and Japanese.

Smaller sizes are available at more affordable prices.

Marutake has been in business since the late Taisho era (1912-1926), and offers a wide variety of sweets such as the finest dashimaki tamago and pudding!

It is one of the most popular restaurants that can be enjoyed casually even when you do not have a big meal.
