A rare stone walled castle in Tohoku
Morioka Castle Ruins Park is the site of a castle surrounded by magnificent stone walls. Its stone walls are a mixture of stone walls of various stacking styles, as the construction period was divided into four periods as long as about 40 years. The surfaces of the stone walls show differences depending on the construction period, so the angles of warping are also unique to each period.

Free of charge.Oh, my God!!!!?
Different scenery can be seen in each of the four seasons.
In spring, the 250 someiyoshino weeping cherry trees are a sight to behold. The area is illuminated with Bonbori lights during the Sakura Festival. The area is crowded with people partying day and night. Even if you don’t have a blue sheet, there are plenty of benches in the park, so it is great to watch cherry blossoms with a beer in hand.
In summer, hydrangeas and lotus flowers bloom, and nearby the castle is lively during the Sansa Festival, a traditional festival of Morioka City.
The trees in the park are dyed green and the whole area is covered with greenery, so even under the scorching sun, you can feel cool even in the strong sunlight because you are surrounded by greenery.

In autumn, ginkgo and maple leaves are at their best from late October to mid-November. The ginkgo then becomes an exciting yellow carpet that spreads over the entire castle. The autumn leaves lit by the streets give an emo feeling.
It is also famous as a fall foliage spot.
In winter, snow on pine branches and sparrows playing on the ground or on the tips of branches under the warm sunlight are lovely and soothing.
Also, in the Nakatsu River that runs along the side of the castle, salmon may return and sometimes swans may swoop down. Please dress warmly as winters in Tohoku are cold.
