1 Toyosu What is Ten Thousand Guests?
Toyosu Senkaku Banrai, which has been attracting attention for some time as a new spot to be opened in 2024, opened on February 1. The concept for this facility began in 2015 with the aim of inheriting the bustling atmosphere that is an asset of the Tsukiji Market and creating a vitality that is unique to the Toyosu Market. The facility aims to increase the number of inbound visitors to the market and Japan as a whole, as well as to revitalize the community and the region in cooperation with the adjacent main Toyosu Market facility. At the heart of Toyosu is the famous Toyosu Market, which was relocated from Tsukiji. This state-of-the-art facility is a spacious, clean, and user-friendly environment where visitors can enjoy the finest seafood and discover new culinary delights. With tourists and locals alike, the market is a popular spot for visitors to savor the rich bounty of Japan’s oceans. Nature is also available in Toyosu. Toyosu Seaside Park offers a place to relax with its vast lawns and walking paths. At night, the beautifully illuminated scenery creates a romantic atmosphere.
The two buildings that make up the facility, the “Toyosu Outside Edomae Market” food and entertainment building and the “Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club” hot spring bath building, create a lively atmosphere.
Toyosu has many walking trails, so no matter how much you eat, you will eat zero calories.
For the one day you spend in Toyosu, don’t worry about anything, eat as you please, heal your body, and enjoy a wonderful holiday.
2 Satisfy Your Stomach at Toyosu Outside Edomae Market
The “Toyosu Outside Edomae Market” is a commercial facility consisting of three floors with approximately 70 stores. The building recreates the old streets of Edo with its wooden architecture employing traditional building materials such as granite and “ibushi-gawara” tiles from Awaji Island, as well as Tama timber. The Edomae Market is connected by a deck from the front of Shijo Station to the second floor “Toyosu Mejikai Odori” (Toyosu Connoisseur Boulevard). This means that the aerobic exercise of eating and walking begins the moment you leave the station. This boulevard recreates the lively market of the Edo period. In fact, from the moment you step onto this straight avenue, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time to the Edo period. Therefore, you can burn more calories by walking slowly with your right hand outstretched horizontally and saying aloud “Sorori, sorori.
Since it is adjacent to a market, there are many restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest seafood such as tuna and oysters.
3Recommended stores
Connoisseur’s Alley
This is a row of stores selling products selected by wholesale dealers. Indoors, the ceiling is lined with “big fish flags,” flags that signal big fish as fishing boats return to port, creating a lively atmosphere that is typical of a market. Take a break from your aerobic workout to rehydrate with beer or sake and enjoy a snack of fresh fish.
Yoridori Machiya
A notable food court is located on the third floor. It has been recreated based on the historical fact that sushi was readily available at yatai stalls during the Edo period (1603-1867). Here, you can enjoy not only nigiri-zushi but also a variety of other sushi such as rice bowls and poke bowls. All of the sushi restaurants are very generous in volume, so you can enjoy the exquisite sushi only available here to the point that your stomach will growl. You will want to take a picture of yourself posing for a sushi feast.
Seafood Buffet Iroha Toyosu
A rare buffet-style seafood restaurant where you can enjoy a relaxing meal in a spacious restaurant. You can enjoy a full meal of about 40 different dishes including snow crab, side dishes, and desserts. In addition, the restaurant offers a performance of dismantling Japanese fresh tuna purchased from the Toyosu market. The spectacle of the tuna being dismantled with a powerful knife is a sight to behold. Please enjoy watching the magnificent craftsmanship right in front of you, and try to recreate it when you get home. I don’t think you will understand anything.
4 Footbaths to end the walk when you are tired.
On the 8th floor, a footbath garden with a panoramic view of Toyosu has been set up free of charge for the general public. Even though it is in Tokyo, the footbath is free of charge. It would be a shame not to take advantage of it. The footbath heals your calves, your second heart, and improves blood flow, thereby boosting your metabolism. Recover your strength by watching the sunset and the night view, and then go and taste the places you could not visit. There is a café and restaurant bar on the same floor, so we recommend enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
If you still have a lot of energy left, finish your visit at the nearby Toyosu Gururi Park. It is a good place to sober up and recover your body.
